One moment changes everything.

On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight AI171 crashed after takeoff from Ahmedabad, bound for London Gatwick. Out of 242 people onboard, 241 perished. Only one man survived: 40‑year‑old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian origin seated at 11A by an emergency exit.

The tragedy did not end with the passengers. The plane slammed into the B.J. Medical College hostel, igniting a fire that killed 75 medical students who were not on the flight but caught in its path.

In the wreckage of broken dreams and burning buildings, the image of a couple with three young children has gone viral. Dr Pratik Joshi and Dr Komi Vyas shared a hopeful selfie aboard the plane, their faces bright with anticipation before the world cracked beneath them. All five lives vanished in an instant.

That final family photo haunts us. Parents excited to start over in London, children eager for new experiences—they are the truest symbols of what was lost. A family filled with plans folded into smoke and ash.

We all say tomorrow holds our time, but tomorrow is uncertain. We delay hugs, postpone “I love yous,” rationalize forgiveness, and assume we have space for everything. That illusion shattered for countless families today.

Stop delaying. Thank a friend. Tell your partner “you matter.” Bring your children close. Apologize to those you hurt. Live with the insistence that life’s brevity requires bold presence. Every heartbeat is sacred.

We grieve. We condemn the randomness of tragedy. We feel each lost life—student, family, couple, child—as if in our own home. And then we choose—will we allow this grief to consume us, or will we honor memory with genuine living?

Let pain be our compass. Let gratitude guide our days. Let love become action, not just intention. May the memory of those we lost live in how fully we engage with life now.
